Electronic Prescription Service

How to nominate Jupiter Chemist

Start using electronic prescriptions – If you get regular prescriptions, the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) may be able to save you time by avoiding unnecessary trips to your GP. EPS makes it possible for your prescriptions to be sent electronically to the pharmacy or dispenser of your choice.

Choosing a pharmacy or dispensing appliance contractor to process your EPS prescription is called nomination. This means you’ll no longer have to collect a paper repeat prescription from your GP practice – instead, you can go straight to the nominated pharmacy or dispensing appliance contractor to pick up your medicines or medical appliances. (information taken from the NHS website)

Because we at Jupiter Chemist would have already received your electronic prescription, we will be able to prepare your items in advance, so all you have to do is to pick it up with no extra wait. (However, this depends on the capacity of pharmacists on the day, and may not be possible all the time).

The new electronic prescription service (EPS) has changed the way prescriptions are written. Almost all of the GP practices in Hemel Hempstead can now send prescriptions electronically. This does not change the way you order your repeat prescription, but allows us to receive the prescriptions directly from the GP practice though the secure, NHS system, which has made the prescription service faster and more efficient. You can call us on 01442 256096, or come in and visit us in the shop.

Jupiter Chemist is able to receive prescriptions electronically from the following GP surgeries:

  • Lincoln House Surgery
  • Bennetts End Surgery
  • Everest House Surgery
  • Fernville Surgery
  • Highfield Surgery
  • Woodhall Farm Surgery
  • Grovehill Surgery
  • Parkwood Drive Surgery
  • West Herts Medical Centre

This list is not exhaustive. There are some prescriptions, such as those for controlled drugs that are not currently able to be sent electronically. In these cases, we will collect the prescription from the surgery if you have signed up to our repeat prescription service.

If you have any questions on the above or would like to talk to a Pharmacist, please contact us on 01442 256096 and we would be more than happy to help.
